Frequently Asked Questions
We know family law can feel overwhelming—and sometimes, just getting clear answers makes all the difference. Below you’ll find thoughtful responses to the questions we hear most often, designed to help you feel informed, prepared, and empowered as you move forward.

Can a parenting plan address school and extracurricular decisions?
Yes, and honestly, it should. This is one of the most common gaps I see in plans that were written quickly or copied from a generic template.
A well-built plan can specify:
- Who has decision-making authority for enrollment, school choice, and academic decisions.
- How extracurricular costs are split, since fees for sports, music lessons, or camps add up fast.
- Who attends school events and conferences, especially if both parents want to be present.
- How new activities get approved, so one parent isn't blindsided by a schedule change they didn't agree to.
The more specific your plan is now, the fewer disagreements you'll have when your child wants to join the travel soccer team or switch schools. A parenting plan isn't supposed to be a static document. It's supposed to actually work for your family as your child grows.
