Frequently Asked Questions

We know family law can feel overwhelming—and sometimes, just getting clear answers makes all the difference. Below you’ll find thoughtful responses to the questions we hear most often, designed to help you feel informed, prepared, and empowered as you move forward.

What should I do if my co-parent constantly changes the schedule?

I hear this one a lot, and it wears people down in a way that's hard to explain to anyone who hasn't lived it. A schedule that shifts constantly isn't just inconvenient. It makes it hard for your child to feel settled, and it makes it hard for you to plan your own life.

A few steps that actually help:

  • Put everything in writing. Texts, emails, or a co-parenting app create a record you can point back to later.
  • Track the pattern. One late pickup is an inconvenience. A dozen over three months is a pattern a court can consider.
  • Try mediation first, especially if the changes seem to come from disorganization rather than intent.
  • File a Motion for Contempt if the other parent is knowingly violating a court-ordered schedule and it's causing real disruption.

Consistency matters to a judge, and a documented record of who's been reliable and who hasn't can carry real weight if this ever needs to go in front of one.
